Seriforge provides complex, net shape preforms ready for placement in molds, bypassing time-consuming and error prone hand layup while maximizing manufacturing tool utilization.
Many composite structures utilize foam cores to help reduce weight and increase laminate stiffness. However, poor peel strength can sometimes cause a sandwich laminate to fail prematurely. Seriforge’s ability to introduce Z axis fibers through the sandwich panel thickness helps increase peel strength and core shear strength thereby improving the performance of the sandwich laminates. Specialty peel stoppers can also be sewn into the laminate using Seriforge’s unique non-crimp stitching system.
Unlike other carbon fiber preforming systems, the Seriforge process produces complex shaped parts from full length, continuous carbon fiber in the X, Y and Z directions, enabling optimized designs that maximize the full strength of carbon fiber without compromise.
Preforms can be designed and fabricated with varying thicknesses, varying numbers of plies, arbitrary orientations, multiple and hybrid materials and cores.
Tailored stitch placement provides optimized material handing, additional reinforcement in high stress areas, and improved molding and infusion.
